Indian-origin student dies after falling from Balcony in Bahamas, days before graduation


Gaurav Jaisingh, a college student studying in the United States, passed away in a tragic accident while visiting the Bahamas. Gaurav was a senior at Bentley University in Massachusetts and was on a trip with other students from his class, just before his graduation.

The incident happened on Sunday evening. According to early reports, Gaurav was in his hotel room with his roommates when he accidentally fell from a balcony on an upper floor. He was found unresponsive on a lower level of the hotel.

Emergency services arrived quickly and rushed him to the hospital. Sadly, Gaurav did not survive and passed away while on the way.

Bentley University shared the heartbreaking news with the community.

“It’s been a difficult few days, and our community is feeling the emotional toll of the tragic loss of Gaurav Jaisingh ’25. Our hearts go out to Gaurav’s family and friends. We plan to honour Gaurav at the undergraduate commencement ceremony,” the university said in a post on X.

The graduation ceremony is planned for May 17.

The local police in the Bahamas are still looking into the incident.

“We share our deepest condolences with Gaurav’s family, friends, and loved ones. While local authorities are investigating, it appears Gaurav accidentally fell from a balcony. We will share more information when available while respecting his family’s privacy,” Bentley University said in a statement.

Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred around 10 PM and that it was reported as an accidental fall. The investigation is still ongoing.
