Terrorists killed 25 Indian and 1 Nepali civilian in the picturesque Baisaran valley in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 leading to the highest civilian casualties in a terror attack since the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack in 2008.

India responded to the terror attack, understood to have been carried out by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists, with a host of diplomatic and non-military measures against Islamabad. The first set of measures included cancelling the Indian visa of Pakistani citizens and putting the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.

Festive offer

Banning import of products and docking of ships from Pakistan followed, along with suspension of the exchange of all mail and parcels, shutting Indian airspace for flights from Pakistan and curbing the water flow through the Baglihar dam.

Then, amid rising tensions, India announced it would hold mock drills across 244 civil defence districts on May 7. But on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, India hit 9 terror sites inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, hitting the headquarters of multiple terrorist outfits responsible for several terror attacks on Indian soil.
