Model Rachel Gupta said on Wednesday that she had quit her Miss Grand International 2024 title. But the organisers said she was officially removed from the position. In an Instagram post, the 21-year-old claimed she had faced a toxic work environment and many broken promises. She said it was a hard decision to leave, but she felt it was the right thing to do.

Rachel Gupta said that winning the crown was one of her biggest dreams, but after that, she faced broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment that she could no longer stay silent about. She mentioned that she would soon share her full story in a video, saying, “The truth will come out very soon.”
She also apologised to her supporters, saying, “I’m truly sorry if this news has disappointed you. Please know this wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one for me.”

While Rachel Gupta blamed a toxic environment, the Miss Grand International (MGI) Organisation gave a different reason for her exit. In a statement shared on social media, MGI said that Guptahad been officially removed from her position. The organisation accused her of not fulfilling her responsibilities, taking up outside projects without permission, and refusing to join an official trip to Guatemala.

“The Miss Grand International Organisation hereby announces the termination of Miss Rachel Gupta’s title as Miss Grand International 2024, effective immediately,” the statement said. They also asked her to return the crown within 30 days. Rachel was crowned on October 25 last year and became the first Indian to win the Miss Grand International title. Her historic win also earned her the Grand Pageants Choice Award, putting her in the league of beauty queens like Miss Universe 2000, Lara Dutta.
