IDE Bootcamp Phase 2 – Edition 2 was inaugurated at PSNA College of Engineering and Technology, Dindigul, on February 17. It was aiked at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students. S. Udhaya Shanker. Assistant Controller, Patent Office, Chennai, was the chief guest. He was joined by Girish Kumar Bhasin. Assistant Director, AICTE, and R. Anandasivaraj, Manager. IP & Technology Transfer, AICTE. Anbumathi, an expert trainer from Wadhwani Foundation. also participated. An exhibition by students showcased 23 projects spanning diverse domains such as IoT, Agriculture, and Healthcare.

A faculty development programme on ‘Setting question paper as per educational objectives’ was organised at G.T.N Arts College, Dindigul, on February 15. The objective was to improve skills in creating effective assessment tools that measure student learning outcomes. T. Srinivasan, Controller of Examinations, inaugurated the programme. S. Saravanan, Principal, offered felicitations. The resource person, A. Jahitha Begum, Head i/c, Department of Education, Gandhigram Rural Institute, spoke on ‘Setting question paper as per educational objectives.’ She stressed the importance of assessment using Bloom’s Taxonomy and Outcome-Based Education system. She said intervention of Artificial Intelligence was no threat to the OBE system.

The Department of Psychology at Anugraha Institute of Social Sciences, Dindigul, hosted a conference on ‘Artificial Intelligence and the future of mental healing opportunities and challenges’ on February 7 and 8. The conference also covered various sub-themes, including Al innovations in mental health care, predictive analytics, ethical considerations, Al-powered diagnostic tools, and the role of Al in addressing mental health disparities. Special sessions focused on Al’s role in patient engagement, training health professionals, and psycho-spiritual counselling. Organised in collaboration with Periyar University, Madras University and Loyola College, the conference provided a platform for intellectual deliberations on Al’s potential and challenges in the mental health sector

The Sivagangai District Cyber Crime Police organised a cyber crime awareness programme at Ananda College in Devakottai on February 12. It was aimed at educating the students about risks associated with cybercrime and the ways to avoid becoming a victim. The participants were: P. Kalai Kathiravan, ASP; S. Chandra Mohan: Inspector; V. Sathish Kumar, Sub-Inspector; and S. Kala: Sub-Inspector, Devakottai. They gave insights on cybercrime awareness, potential misuse of social media, and methods to prevent cybercrime.

Graduation Day was held at V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar, on February 22. The chief guest was G. Ravi, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, Karaikudi. In his address, he spoke on the significance of education in all aspects of life, and the responsibility of youth in building the nation. Totally 1,130 – 942 UG and 188 PG graduands – from various disciplines were conferred with their degrees.
