Foundation Day at SSM

Foundation Day was celebrated in SSM Higher Educational Institutions for Research (SSM HEIR) in Dindigul on April 7. Shankar V. Subramaniam, Chief Executive Officer, Hindu Tamil Thisai, KSL Media, Chennai was the chief guest. N Sampathkumar, Principal, SSM College of Arts and Science, welcomed the gathering. D. Senthil Kumaran, Principal, SSM Institute of Engineering and Technology, gave the presidential address. In his address, the chief guest spoke on virtues such as patience, perseverance, professionalism that can make a student successful in his endeavours. Winners of competitions conducted in view of the Foundation Day were honored with shields and certificates. G Shanmugam, Dean – Science and Humanities, proposed the vote of thanks.

The Department of Economics at GTN Arts College, Dindigul, organised a seminar, ‘Artificial Intelligence in E-Commerce: trends and challenges,’ April 4. The seminar aimed to explore the evolving role of AI in the commerce sector and to encourage students to engage with emerging technologies and their applications. College Director Durai presided over the function. P. Ravichandran, HoD, delivered the keynote address. He laid emphasis on the importance of students learning AI-related courses and highlighted the numerous job opportunities and self-employment avenues that AI offers. He also spoke about the advantages of AI in economic growth and business innovation. Earlier S. Arun, Assistant Professor, welcomed the gathering. The seminar also featured insightful student presentations on various topics. As many as 75 students participated in the seminar.P. Satheesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.

NPR Group of Institutions, Natham conducted Placement Achievers Day on April 5. The Principal of NPR College of Engineering and Technology, M. Karthigai Pandian; the Principal of NPR Arts and Science College, S. Devi; the Principal of NPR Polytechnic College, R. Ananth; the Principal of NPR College of Nursing and Research Institute – Allied Health Science, S. Annalakshmi; and Placement Officer P.T.J.K.Lilian were present. The distinguished alumni of NPR Group of Institutions distributed the placement orders to students who were recruited in various companies. A total of 520 offers were distributed.

Ananda College, Devakottai, celebrated its 21st Annual Day. Secretary Rev. Sebastian delivered the welcome address. Principal Rev. S. John Vasanthakumar presented the annual report. The special guest, Rev. L. Anantham, chairman of the Ananda Educational Trust and Bishop of Sivaganga Diocese, addressed the gathering. In his address, he urged the students to read the life stories of achievers and follow their paths. He also urged students not to fear failure but to persevere and strive for personal growth. Former students Maria Angeline Cynthia and Vadivelan shared their insights. Rev. Fr. Arul Joseph, the Vicar General of the Sivaganga Diocese, was present.

AI/ML Analyst @ AVasoft, Alpha City, Chennai, was the the chief guest. In her address, she said industry-aligned initiatives significantly elevated students’ employability, enabling transition seamlessly from campus to corporate environment.

The 41st College Day of Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi was celebrated on April 5. Principal S.Arivazhagan presented the annual report. V. Veerapan, chairperson of India Electronics Semiconductor Association, was the chief guest. In his address, he cherished the memory of setting up the first desktop at the college in 1984 and admired the current infrastructure where thousands of computers have been installed. He advised the students to always ‘think big’ by citing the example of Walt Disney, to adapt to changes and to give back to the society.

16th Annual day was held at Theni Kammavar Sangam College of Arts and Science on April 4. The annual report was read by G.Srinivasan, Principal. The chief guest, R.Raja Govindasamy, former Principal, Thiagarajar College, Madurai, has delivered keynote address. He stressed the importance of guided learning, self learning and peer learning. He ended with a quote – ‘be a volunteer to become a leader.’ Dignitaries of Theni Kammavar Sangam, parents, staff and more than 1,200 students participated. L. Mythili, HOD, Department of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks.

Nadar Saraswathi College of Engineering and Technology, held its 11th Graduation Day ceremony. Principal C.Mathalai Sundaram welcomed the gathering. Pradeep Sivakaminathan, Associate Vice President, Unit Technology Infosys, Mysuru, was the special guest. He spoke about how the world is running through artificial intelligence technology. In the future, human life will be created through artificial intelligence, economic development through financial technology like UPI, and the future is becoming a hyper connected society through the advancement of software technology.
