With the IPL 2025 playoffs beginning on June 29, here is a comprehensive guide to playoff records of all four teams.
It’s time for the IPL 2025 playoffs. Barring Punjab Kings, all teams look familiar in the playoffs. Mumbai Indians have made it to the playoffs 11 times, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with no title success, are in the playoffs for the 10th time. In fact, in the last five years, RCB have been the most consistent team, making the playoffs four times. Gujarat Titans have only missed out on the playoffs last season, making it three times in four years.
Punjab Kings have qualified for the playoffs only three times. And their 2025 entry comes after 11 years. But with Shreyas Iyer taking the charge as the captain and Ricky Ponting as the coach, PBKS have made it happen. As IPL playoffs begin on June 29, let’s take a look at the teams and their playoff records.

Out of the four teams, Gujarat Titans have the best playoff winning percentage. GT have won two out of three playoff matches. MI have a great record too, winning eight out of 14 matches in the playoffs. However, MI have not played a lot in the Eliminators. This will be the fifth time in 18 years that Mumbai will play in the Eliminator. In four Eliminator matches, MI have a 50% win record.
As for Punjab Kings, this is only the third time that they will be in the playoffs. PBKS have only once in the playoffs, in 2014, when they beat Chennai Super Kings to qualify for the IPL final. In two other instances, PBKS in the 2008 semifinal and 2014 qualifier 1.
RCB, another traditional underachiever, have won 5 out of 12 matches in the playoffs. Since 2016, RCB haven’t been able to reach the summit. In fact, out of 10 appearances in the playoffs, they have managed to reach the final only three times.

PBKS playoff records
Punjab Kings have stunned everyone in IPL 2025. With nine wins in 14 matches, PBKS have 19 points. Their highest points tally came in the 2014 season when they won 11 out of 14 matches to qualify for the playoffs and eventually reached the final.
This time, PBKS have come close once again, sealing a spot in Qualifier 1. The last time PBKS reached Qualifier 1, they made it to the finals. However, they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1 and won against CSK in Qualifier 2, avenging their 2008 loss.
PBKS will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1. They have already beaten RCB once in the league stage. However, they will be worried about RCB as they have already beaten PBKS in Mullanpur, where Qualifier 1 will take place on May 29.
Punjab Kings’ Shashank Singh predicted that his team would be in the playoffs. And they are here. Now, can they go all the way to win the title?

GT playoff records
This is Gujarat Titans’ third appearance in the playoffs. In their inaugural season, under Hardik Pandya, GT lifted the title in 2022. GT once again reached the final under the same captain in 2023 but fell short to CSK in a marathon final. While 2024 was an aberration, GT are in the playoffs once again, making them one of the most consistent teams in recent years.
So far, GT have never played in Eliminator. Both times, GT played in Qualifier 1, winning one and losing one. This time, though, GT will be in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians. GT have already beaten MI twice this season in the league stage and they will be confident.

23 May 2023 | Qualifier 1 | v CSK | lost | 15 runs | Chennai |

RCB playoff records
Royal Challengers Bengaluru haven’t had the best of luck in IPL playoffs. In 12 playoff matches, RCB have won only 5, losing the other 7. In the last five years, RCB have qualified for Qualifier 2 only once, but they lost to Rajasthan Royals in 2022. Fortunately, the only time RCB played a Qualifier 1, they won and reached the final. RCB will take on PBKS in Qualifier 1.
However, this time, RCB could be a threat to all the teams. RCB have beaten PBKS in Mullanpur and even won against MI in Mumbai. While they have lost to GT in the league stage, considering Shubman Gill & Co’s form, RCB would be happy to face them in Qualifier 2.

MI playoff records
With five titles, Mumbai Indians are the most successful team among the four in the IPL 2025 playoffs. MI have the best records in the playoffs, winning 8 out of 14 matches. However, MI will play the Eliminator this time. Sunrisers Hyderabad are the only team to win the IPL title from the Eliminator. Hence, MI will have to replicate SRH’s 2016 success for a record 6th title.
All of MI’s IPL titles came from a Top 2 finish in the league stage. But this time, they lost the chance with a loss to PBKS. In IPL 2025, MI have lost to all the sides in the playoffs. Hardik Pandya & Co have lost to Gujarat Titans twice and once each to RCB and PBKS. In fact, MI have not beaten any of the sides in the playoffs in the IPL 2025 league stage. As they take on GT in the Eliminator, MI will be on the backfoot.
