ICC Women’s World Cup to begin on Sep 30, final in Colombo if Pakistan qualify

Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo as per agreement with the BCCI. If Pakistan qualify for the semifinals or final, both matches will be in Colombo.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to announce the schedule of the ICC Women’s World Cup. However, on Monday, the ICC announced major venues and dates. The WWC 2025 will begin on September 30 in Bengaluru with India playing the primary host. But as agreed between BCCI and the PCB, Pakistan will play their matches in Sri Lanka. If Pakistan qualify for the semifinals or final, at least one semifinal and the final will be played in Colombo, even though India is the official host. The final will be on November 2.

Key Dates

  • Start date: September 30, 2025
  • Semifinal 1: October 29, 2025
  • Semifinal 2: October 30, 2025
  • Final: November 2, 2025

No words on full schedule yet

While the ICC has announced major dates, there is no word on the full schedule with three months to go for the tournament. India will play on the opening day of the tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Guwahati and Bengaluru will host the two semifinals depending on Pakistan’s qualification. If Pakistan qualify for the first semifinal, Colombo will host the match. If they qualify for the 2nd semifinal, it will be moved from Bengaluru to Colombo. Similarly, if Pakistan pull off a miracle and qualify for the final, Colombo will host the final instead of Bengaluru.

Women’s World Cup venues

  • M Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru)
  • ACA Stadium (Guwahati)
  • Holkar Stadium (Indore)
  • ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam)
  • R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

In India, a total of four venues will be used for the Women’s World Cup. M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host one semifinal and final apart from the opening match. However, the fate of the semifinal and final will depend on Pakistan.

ACA Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore and ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam will host other matches in India. Colombo will host Pakistan’s all matches, including league stage, semifinal and final.

If India and Pakistan are grouped together, India will have to travel to Colombo for the match. Australia are the defending champions. India reached the semifinals in the last edition and the final in 2017. India last hosted the event in 2013.
