Interviewer: Yogesh, congratulations on your incredible performance in Season 1 of the Pro Panja League! How does it feel to be heading into Season 2 as an undefeated champion?
Yogesh Chaudhary: Thank you! It’s an honor to be recognized as India’s strongest armwrestler, but I don’t let the title get to my head. Season 1 was a dream run, and I’m grateful for the support from my team, family, and fans. Heading into Season 2, I feel motivated to push my limits further. The competition is tougher this year, and I’m excited to test my strength against the best.
You’re representing Kochi KD’s again. How has the franchise supported you in your journey?
Yogesh: Kochi KD’s has been like a family to me. The franchise provides us with top-notch facilities, coaching, and mental health support. They believe in us and give us the freedom to train in a way that suits our strengths. This backing has been crucial in helping me focus on my preparation without any distractions.
Let’s talk about your preparation for Season 2. How have you been training to maintain your edge?
Yogesh: My training is a mix of strength, endurance, and technique. Armwrestling isn’t just about raw power; it’s about grip, wrist control, and strategy. I train six days a week, with three days focused on heavy weightlifting to build my upper body strength exercises like deadlifts, bench presses, and rows are staples. The other three days are for armwrestling-specific drills, like table practice, grip training with thick bars, and wrist curls. I also incorporate yoga and mobility work to stay flexible and prevent injuries. My coaches at Kochi KD’s have designed a program that keeps me sharp and explosive.
Your diet must play a huge role in fueling your performance. Can you walk us through what you eat to stay in top shape?
Yogesh: Absolutely. My diet is high in protein to support muscle recovery and growth. I start my day with oats, eggs, and a protein shake. For lunch, it’s usually grilled chicken or fish with brown rice and a variety of vegetables like broccoli and spinach. Snacks include nuts, Greek yogurt, or a fruit smoothie. Dinner is lighter maybe paneer or lentils with a salad. I make sure to stay hydrated and take supplements like whey protein, BCAAs, and multivitamins under my nutritionist’s guidance. As a housewife, I love cooking, so I experiment with healthy recipes to keep my meals interesting!
Balancing roles as a housewife, gym owner, and professional athlete must be challenging. How do you manage it all?
Yogesh: It’s not easy, but I thrive on challenges. Time management is key. I plan my day meticulously mornings are for household responsibilities, afternoons for gym management, and evenings for training. My family is my biggest support system; they understand my passion and give me the space to chase my dreams. Running my gym also keeps me motivated because I’m surrounded by people who share my love for fitness.
What’s your mindset going into Season 2? Any specific goals?
Yogesh: My mindset is to stay focused and give my 100% in every match. I’m not thinking about staying undefeated; I’m thinking about improving with every pull. My goal is to retain my title and inspire more women to take up armwrestling. I want to show that with hard work, anything is possible, no matter your background or responsibilities.
Any message for your fans and aspiring armwrestlers?
Yogesh: To my fans, thank you for your love and support. It means the world to me. To aspiring armwrestlers, especially women, don’t be afraid to dream big. Armwrestling is a sport that rewards dedication and grit. Start training, find a mentor, and believe in yourself. I’m proof that you can be a housewife, a businesswoman, and a champion all at once!
