A new online directory showcasing Western Australia’s growing life sciences sector has officially launched, with more than 250 local organisations now profiled on the global Biotechgate platform.
Launched by Life Sciences WA (LSWA), the Life Sciences WA Directory aims to make it easier for investors, partners, and customers to discover the state’s burgeoning pipeline of innovation across medical, agricultural, and marine sciences. The directory, which is free to use, includes profiles of startups, scaleups, research organisations, and service providers, making it a one-stop shop for anyone looking to engage with the WA life sciences ecosystem.
Backed by the Cook Government through foundation sponsorship aligned with its Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy, the directory comes at a time when global attention on health tech, medtech, and biotech is intensifying — and WA wants a seat at the table.
“The online directory is a fantastic resource for investors and customers alike to quickly find and engage with more than 250 WA life sciences organisations,” said Minister for Science, Innovation and Medical Research, Stephen Dawson. “The WA Government is proud to have contributed to the creation of this directory.”
Global Exposure for Local Innovation
Hosted through the internationally recognised Biotechgate platform, the directory doesn’t just serve local purposes — it places Western Australian innovators on a global stage, helping the sector attract partnerships, funding, and commercial opportunities.
In addition to health and medtech ventures, the directory will include agricultural and marine-focused innovation companies, as well as critical support services such as clinical trial providers, commercialisation experts, legal advisers, and IP firms.
“It is wonderful Life Sciences WA will include local agricultural and marine innovation companies in this free and accessible online directory,” said Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis. “This will allow those within the sector to build their profile and promote their services to a growing range of customers and potential investors.”

Western Australia’s life sciences sector has steadily gained momentum in recent years, producing a number of high-growth companies that are now on investor watchlists.
- OncoRes Medical, a University of Western Australia spinout, is developing an intraoperative imaging tool to help surgeons detect residual breast cancer tissue with greater precision. The company recently secured $12 million in Series A funding, backed by the MTPConnect BioMedTech Horizons program.
