The way flip and foldable phones have evolved so quickly since their inception has been a story of engineering renaissance. Samsung surely started the movement, but the way Motorola has come up with products year after year has shown a constant uptick in the graph of improvement and refinements. Launched recently, the new Motorola Razr 60 Ultra comes with upgrades over its predecessor, the Razr 50 Ultra. Positioned as the most powerful flip phone, it will be interesting to see how the phone holds up in the race. So, let’s dive deep and find out.
Design
Right out of the box, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra strikes a visual chord. The woody texture variant we received looks classy and commands attention. During the testing phase, it wasn’t uncommon for people to stop and ask to take a closer look at the phone. The design that blends nostalgia with modern finesse. The Alcantara/FSC-certified wood finish on the back is unlike anything else in the current flip segment, and the in-hand feel is nothing short of surreal. It feels sturdy yet lightweight at just 199 grams, offering a comfortable grip when open or closed.

Motorola has clearly put effort into refining the hinge. Compared to the Razr 50 Ultra’s stainless steel, the new titanium hinge is not only stronger but also lighter, making the folding and unfolding experience buttery smooth. The crease is significantly reduced, contributing to a more seamless screen experience. It also comes with IP48 dust and underwater protection, which brings added confidence in daily usage scenarios—an important reassurance for a foldable.

Port placement is thoughtful and efficient. The right side houses the power button with an integrated fingerprint sensor and volume rockers above it. On the left, there’s a new AI assist button that’s neatly integrated into the frame. At the bottom, you’ll find the speaker grille, a Type-C port, and the SIM tray. Every element feels refined, and collectively, it reinforces Motorola’s focus on delivering a high-end flip experience.

Display
The Razr 60 Ultra flaunts a stunning 6.96-inch LTPO Foldable AMOLED main display with a Super HD resolution of 2992×1224. The display supports HDR10+, 10-bit colour, and up to 165 Hz refresh rate, making it among the fastest and most vibrant panels in its class. With a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and a high touch sampling rate (up to 300Hz in game mode), this screen is a delight to interact with—be it scrolling, gaming, or media consumption.
The external 4.0-inch pOLED display is equally capable. With a resolution of 1272×1080 and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, it’s perfect for handling quick tasks. What’s improved over the Razr 50 Ultra is how seamlessly the cover display integrates into everyday use. You can now respond to messages, watch videos, control music, or use navigation directly from it, eliminating the need to flip open the phone for many tasks. It’s functional, responsive, and genuinely useful.
OS and AI
The Razr 60 Ultra runs on Android 15 out of the box, a first for any Motorola flip. It delivers a clean, bloat-free experience with enhancements tailored for the foldable form factor. Features like External Display Preview and Instant Review make photography more interactive, while gesture-based navigation feels intuitive across both displays.
Motorola has introduced a dedicated AI button on the left side, giving quick access to smart features. The use of the latest Snapdragon processor brings a dedicated Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that handles AI tasks efficiently. From smarter camera processing to more adaptive power management, the phone utilises AI to boost everyday usability without making it overwhelming.
There’s also a promise of longevity. Motorola is offering three OS upgrades and four years of security updates, which I felt could have been more, considering the competition. With AI woven throughout—from camera enhancements to real-time translations and content suggestions—the software experience is smart yet unobtrusive.
Performance
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform built on 3nm process technology, the Razr 60 Ultra truly earns its “most powerful flip phone” tag. The octa-core processor with a max clock speed of 4.32GHz ensures lightning-fast performance. Backed by 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, the phone effortlessly handles anything thrown at it.
From day-to-day tasks like multitasking and switching between apps to heavier processes such as video rendering or high-resolution photo editing, the Razr 60 Ultra performs with grace. Geekbench scores reaffirm its prowess—2750 on single-core and 8255 on multi-core performance, while the GPU scores 14,733 and AnTuTu hits an impressive 1,393,079.The navigation experience on both displays is smooth like flowing water, with no lag or stutter in sight.
Gaming has received a special upgrade in this generation. Whether it was heavy-duty titles or graphics-intensive shooters, the Razr 60 Ultra ran them all in top-tier settings without any noticeable frame drops or heating. For a flip phone, this kind of gaming experience is rare and stands out. The device remains cool during extended sessions and doesn’t throttle performance.
What makes this even more impressive is how Motorola has refined the device while keeping it so thin and light. Despite housing such powerful internals, the phone never feels bulky or weighed down. For those looking for flagship-level performance in a stylish, compact form factor, this is the phone to consider.
Camera
The Razr 60 Ultra features a dual rear camera setup with both lenses offering 50 MP resolution. The main camera features OIS, an f/1.8 aperture, and a 1/1.56” sensor, while the ultra-wide + macro camera offers a 122° field of view. The results in daylight are exceptional, with accurate colours and great dynamic range. Pantone-validated colour accuracy also means the photos appear natural and true-to-life.

Portraits are another area where the phone impresses. Edge detection is precise, subject separation is clean, and the depth blur feels natural. Whether you’re taking quick shots of people or carefully composed frames, the portraits consistently turn out well.

Low-light and night photography is another area where Motorola has made strides. The Auto Night Vision mode works impressively well, capturing good detail and minimising noise. The photos feel balanced in terms of exposure, and colours don’t oversaturate under artificial lighting.

Selfies are handled by a 50 MP front-facing camera that delivers sharp, well-exposed shots. It also supports features like gesture selfie and face retouch, making it perfect for quick, flattering captures. Thanks to the external display preview feature, it’s also easy to frame shots using the rear cameras for even better selfie quality.
The camera software is loaded with features—Pro Mode, Photo Booth, Portrait Blur, Long Exposure, Action Shot, and even integration with Google Photos tools like Magic Eraser and Auto Enhance. Motorola hasn’t just packed hardware but delivered the full photography suite with refined software enhancements.
Battery
Motorola has given the Razr 60 Ultra a big leap in battery, from 4,000 mAh in the Razr 50 Ultra to 4,700 mAh. This significant increase translates into better endurance. It easily lasts over a full day and a half on moderate to heavy use, and that’s with both displays in active use. For a flip phone, that’s robust battery life.
Charging also gets a boost. The Razr 60 Ultra supports 68 W TurboPower fast charging, up from the 45 W seen in its predecessor. It delivers power for a full day in just 8 minutes and reaches full charge in around 40 minutes. On top of that, you also get 30 W wireless charging and 5 W reverse charging, rounding out an extremely capable power setup.
Verdict
The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is a flip phone that offers a well-rounded package, packed with meaningful upgrades across design, performance, camera, and battery life. It’s not just refinement for the sake of it—Motorola has delivered on multiple fronts with tangible improvements that elevate the experience.
If you’re someone who loves flip phones or is considering switching to one, this is among the best options available. From the Edge 60 Stylus to now the Razr 60 Ultra, Motorola has clearly found its rhythm, delivering real value in a market that demands both innovation and dependability.
Motorola Razr 60 Ultra retails at ₹89,999.
