Extended weekends are meant for a quick trip to the mountains. And this time, my family and I decided to explore the charm of Uttarakhand yet again. After several self planned trips over the years, we thought it was time to experience the magic of the Himalayan state a little differently. We had four complete days for this trip. And that gave us just enough time to explore popular spots in Uttarakhand like Nainital, Ranikhet and Almora. So here is a review of our Uttarakhand Adventure.
With work deadlines piling up, we didn’t have much time to plan or make bookings this time. From our past experience years back, not having prior bookings had often led to a chaotic start to our trip. This time, we were determined to avoid that stress.

After reaching Ranikhet, we explored the verdant landscapes and admired the natural beauty. The highlight was our visit to the famous Chaubatia Gardens, where we enjoyed a peaceful walk among fruit orchards. The day ended with a lovely visit to the Ranikhet Golf Course, followed by a leisurely dinner with the family at a local restaurant.
Almora
On the third day, we traveled to Almora. This day was filled with adventure and nostalgia. The scenic roads leading to Almora were breathtaking, and we visited the Almora Observatory, where we enjoyed spectacular views of the Himalayas. Almora’s unique charm made it one of the most memorable stops on the trip. The cool weather, combined with the mesmerizing views, was perfect for a relaxed afternoon of sightseeing.
Kausani
On our final day, we visited the small yet beautiful village of Kausani. Known for its captivating sunrise views, Kausani did not disappoint. We woke up early to catch the first rays of the sun illuminating the peaks of the Nanda Devi range – a sight we will never forget. After exploring the village and enjoying the scenic views, we stopped for some local snacks and freshly brewed tea before heading back.
